She whimpered at the loss. “Please…”

He shuddered at her plea.

He took the hand she had used to pleasure herself, bringing it to his face and inhaling. He shook, then opened his eyes, locking his gaze on hers. His eyes glowed the way they had at the theater, and she sucked in a breath. He languidly ran his tongue over her fingers before taking them into his mouth, groaning the moment her flavor hit his tongue. In a reflexive move, she pushed her hips up toward him, seeking friction to end the ache between her thighs.

Lukas let her wrist free as he pulled her fingers from the heat of his mouth. He reached down and gripped the covers on each side of her head, then took her mouth again in a bruising kiss. His moans mingled with hers, swallowed by her mouth as he pressed his obvious arousal against her core, giving her what she asked for without words.

She felt like kindling that had been doused in gasoline, and all Lukas needed to do was light the match and she would go up in flames.

Blaire wrapped her arms around his neck, entangling her fingers in his hair. When she grazed her nails across his scalp, he shuddered, groaning into her mouth. She loved that she could arouse him with the simplest touch.

Lukas bit gently onto her lower lip, before dragging his tongue to soothe the tenderness left behind. He pulled back and whispered, his voice strained, as he forced his words out.

“Do you have any idea how much I want you?”

He put his hands on each side of her waist to hold her still and pushed forward with his hips, rolling them against her center to emphasize his point.

Blaire gasped, and her eyes fluttered closed as her lips parted on an exhaled sigh, his name slipping free.

“Say it again.”

She opened her eyes to look up at him, not understanding what he asked of her. What did she say? In a state of arousal-induced fogginess, she didn’t remember saying anything.

Lukas leaned down again, dragging his nose up the side of her neck to her ear, and whispered, “Say my name again, Blaire…”

While he said the words in such a low and unsteady whisper, she could not mistake the command. Her name sounded just as sweet on his lips.

Wrapping her arms again around his neck, she buried her face in his shoulder, and he pressed his hips forward again, causing her to moan his name.

Lukas shifted, and in fear of losing that beautiful feeling, Blaire lifted her legs and wrapped them around his waist. She rocked her body against the significant bulge straining to be free. Lukas closed his eyes, and groaned against her neck, before lifting his head and taking her lips again.

This was everything. It was the aftermath of so much built-up tension. She could get lost in the pleasure he pulled from her body. He hadn’t even removed her clothing, or his, and she was already at a breaking point.

He worked her body like a symphony, hitting the right spots over her clothes. Blaire could only imagine what it would be like if he truly took her. She didn’t want to imagine it. She didn’t want to dream of it. She wanted the reality.

Blaire’s moans became louder in the room as Lukas broke away from the kiss, burying his face into her neck once again as he moved against her, the friction of his jeans against the thin material of her sleep shorts increasing the pleasure. The heat of his body against hers drove her toward that edge. That sweet, dangerous edge over which lay euphoria.

She ground herself against his body shamelessly, panting his name over and over like a mantra, her inhibitions thrown out the window in the face of the overwhelming desire and intoxicated feelings washing over her in his presence.

“Mine…” he whispered, kissing down the side of her neck inch by inch. “Only mine.” He sucked gently in random spots, not lingering too long in one place, as she turned her head to give him better access.

Lost in the moment, Blaire didn’t care if he claimed her body or if he was her first. She wanted him to be her first. She wanted everything Lukas. She wanted to give him everything her. The connection between them burned through her veins like fire.

But as his fangs scraped over the pulse point of her neck, that beautiful moment crashed. She froze. Unlike in her dream, he didn’t bite her. He stopped, holding himself rigid, his breathing labored against her skin as if he had just run up several flights of stairs.

Lukas cursed under his breath and lifted his head to stare down at her, panting heavily, his fangs visible.

“Lukas?” she questioned nervously as her legs dropped from his waist. She felt like someone had dumped a bucket of ice water on her.

He shut his eyes tight, arms shaking. “I’m sorry…” he whispered before climbing off her.

She felt abandoned and cold, despite the desire warring inside her. No, he couldn’t do this. He couldn’t stop now when she was ready to give him everything. She didn’t know if she would have the perfect storm of emotions, and whatever else this was, to allow it to happen again.

Lukas stood with his back to her, not saying anything as he caught his breath. He reached down and picked up his cell phone from the nightstand and held it up.

“I forgot this…”

Slowly, he turned to face Blaire on the bed as she wrapped her arms around her torso in a self-soothing gesture, bringing her knees tightly together. He looked at her legs and then back to her face, his expression pained, before he whispered once more, “I’m so sorry…”
