Bingo.
“What were you and Zeke doing?” I really didn’t want to know; I wanted to push her buttons. Okay, maybe a little of both.
“I don’t think that’s any of your business.”
“Fair enough. Now, was it so hard to tell me that?” I smirked when she glared at me. “I already know you have feelings for him, so what’s the big deal about dreaming about him like that? I already said there wasn’t one with Ash. I doubt it’ll be long before you bond with Zeke. Dreaming of having sex with him makes sense.”
Her gaze drifted to Zeke, a small divot between her brows.
The idea of them bonding and completing their tether used to send me into a panic, but not anymore. She’d take care of him, and that was all I wanted.
“I wasn’t dreaming of having sex with him,” she mumbled.
My brow rose. “Now I’m confused.”
“Don’t worry about it.”
“You can’t say something like that and expect me to let it go.”
“I can, and you will,” she said, lifting her chin, but she wouldn’t hold my eye.
“What did you do with Zeke? Because something had you excited.”
“Must you know about what ‘excites’ me?”
I snorted. “Right now? Yes.”
“Fuck you.”
“You know what? If you tell me, I will.” I laughed when she spluttered. “What? You keep saying it. Now tell me.”
Why was teasing her so fun right now?
She tugged at the hem of her ripped dress and stared at the ground, mumbling something too soft for me to understand.
“What was that?”
“We weren’t alone,” she repeated, still staring at the moss beneath her.
So, she had a sex dream about Zeke, but they weren’t actually hooking up… and someone else was there, but it wasn’t Ash or Ezra. Then who was—“Me?” I blurted the word before I could think better of it as realization struck me. “You were having a sex dream about both of us?”
“Just leave it alone.”
“If you weren’t fucking Zeke,” I said, licking my lips as the alluring scent of apples, plums, and roses intensified, “were you fucking me?”
“I said leave it alone,” she snapped, glaring at me.
I raised both hands in surrender. I wanted to mess around with her, not actually upset her.
Her shoulders dropped, and she leaned back against the tree, folding her arms over her stomach. “It’s just a stupid dream,” she mumbled.
I thought she wanted me to leave it alone, so why was she still talking about it?
Now that her scent wasn’t choking me, I picked up the branch I’d set beside me to snack on and tore off a bite. I’d already eaten almost a third of it, so I broke the rest in half, pocketed one piece for Zeke, and brought the other to Raelynn.
She stared up at me and the branch I held in front of her.
“Take it. If your stomach feels better, you should have something.”
