I notice the tic in Jack’s jaw and his knuckles whiten.

“She is.”

I raise a brow and grin. “That’s like this romance novel I read about a hacker stalking a detective who is stalking him.”

“That so?” He looks up at me with a mischievous gleam in his eye.

“Yeah, it was so good, I think it was… Catch Me? No… Trace Me! That’s it. I need to reread that.”

He laughs and shakes his head. Alok comes up the steps and joins us. His eyes are white with a soft glow, and I remember seeing them somewhere before. He catches me looking at him and tries to speak. I put my hand up to his face.

“Nope,” I say, stopping him dead.

“Well, fuck me,” he says in a defeated tone.

“Not in your wildest dreams.” I walk away—and as I step past him, I hear him speak under his breath.

“No, in yours.” I don’t turn. Anger mixes with embarrassment at the realization.

I can’t even look him in the eyes. Dammit.

“Ignore him.” I hear Kai come up from behind me and wrap me in a hug. “C’mon, let’s get you cleaned up.”

He guides me to the bathroom and the smell of lavender hits my nose. Candlelight flickers and dances off the tile walls and I notice the bath is filled.

“Wow,” I say, genuinely surprised.

Kai says nothing as he closes the door and I hear the click of the lock. I feel the heat of him from behind me as he guides my arms up.

Maybe it’s because I’ve been trapped in hell these past few days, or whatever happened to me, but his touch is electric. I gasp as I feel his hands on my waist sliding my shirt up slowly and removing it. He unclips my bra with ease, my nipples coming to a hard point as he gently pulls it off me.

I feel him unbutton my jeans, zipping them down painfully slowly as if he is savoring the moment. As he slides them down past my ass, I hear his heartbeat pick up. My ear moves and I look in the mirror, taking in my new appearance.

Kai pulls my pants off and looks in the mirror with me.

I run my fingers through my hair; its soft white color looks ethereal as I lean in close to look into my eyes. I always wanted blue eyes—but these aren’t quite blue. There are hues of pink, green, and purple in them, appearing as if there is a glow behind my eyes. It’s odd. I’m not sure how to get used to this, and I’m kind of jealous. Cade damn near looks the same—except for the creepy eyes and red markings.

Kai looks as beautiful as I remember him; he even makes the broken horn look good.

My eyes trail over his massive frame before landing on his golden eyes.

“Beautiful.”

I look into his eyes. “I don’t recognize myself.”

“You are still you.” He brushes my hair to the side and kisses the back of my neck where his sigil used to be. “And you are perfect.”

I smile at that. Still not knowing what all of this means for me, when Kai holds out his hand, I grab it and he guides me into the bath as he seats himself behind me.

“Will I still die?”

“Not easily,” he says plainly as he runs circles on my shoulder. “But most importantly”—he kisses the spot he was rubbing—“you will live.”

He continues kissing my shoulder and up my neck onto my jaw; I turn my head to meet his lips, his tongue finding mine.

“I missed you,” I whisper, reaching up to caress his horns.

I turn in the warm water, pressing my breasts on Kai’s chest as my fingers trail up his arm. He wraps his fingers in my hair and gently pulls my head back as he bites my neck. A soft moan escapes my lips and I feel his cock flex, pressing into my stomach. I shift my body, moving my legs over his as I grind myself into his length. He moans.
