"Damon."
I kept talking, telling her everything she needed to know, "—buying me out. I love the ranch, but—"
"Damon!" she snapped.
"What?"
"I'm staying."
I searched her face, afraid to believe what I’d heard. "What?"
"I talked to Deacon."
"Deacon?"
She nodded. "About moving headquarters. We've been discussing it for a while. Ever since he moved to California. There's no reason the company has to stay where it is. We're moving operations here."
My brain stalled. "Here?"
"Well, Portland. I don't think your cattle would appreciate a corporate office in the pasture."
"You're serious?"
"Completely."
"You'd do that?"
“For us. Yes, I would.” She nodded, and I could see that there was still fear in her eyes as she lifted her shoulders in a shrug. "I’m all in."
Something inside my chest broke wide open. I grabbed her. Lifted her clean off the floor. And held on.
She wrapped her arms around my neck, laughing as I buried my face against her throat.
I whispered. “I love you.”
"I love you, too."
I tightened my hold. For the first time since I walked out of the hospital emergency room ten days ago, I could actually breathe.
She pulled back enough to look at me. "Sorry if I interrupted something."
I frowned. "What?"
"You came running in here like your hair was on fire."
I grinned. "Oh. Yeah. I was going to the airport."
Her eyes widened. "Why?"
"To find you."
Her jaw dropped. "Wait. Seriously?"
"Seriously."
Her head fell back. "Nooo."
"What?"
