Margo clutches her neck. “Someone needs to tell that girl about your attitude.”
“Mhmm, I heard that.” Crank quips, shoving my shoulder. “I think he might need to get laid; this is probably a record for him.”
Margo uses her fingers to count. “Yeah, we’re definitely at DEFCON Five here.”
“You better watch out, he might explode!” Crank chuckles, hitting the back of my seat as I pull into my parking spot.
I flip him off, turning it on Margo. “Fuck you, and fuck you too. The only thing that might make me explode is a certain blonde. Damn, I’d pop a zipper for her in a second.”
“Eww…” Margo slaps her hands over her ears. “Earmuffs! You forgot to say earmuffs.”
“I didn’t forget, y’all deserved that graphic picture stuck in your mind.”
Crank taps my shoulder, pointing toward the hauler. “We have company, dear.”
Lane saunters by about the time we climb from my truck; he’s three haulers down from mine. He side-eyes us, running his hand along his face. Lane’s flipping me off like a preteen.
“I knew his junk hadn’t dropped yet.” Margo snickers, while Crank mean mugs him all the way past us. I can’t help but smile; he’s seriously juvenile.
I look up to find the other two staring at me. “What is it? Do I have a bat in the belfry or something?”
“You didn’t give him a second thought.” Crank blinks rapidly alongside a speechless Margo.
I shrug with a shit-eating grin. “I’m over it, aren’t y’all? He’s the least of my worries. I have another blonde on my mind.”
“Hold the hell up!” Margo puts her hands in the center of my chest. “Where’s my best friend? Is this like a body snatcher kinda thing?”
Crank's brows hang low, suddenly lifting to his hairline. “Oh! I know…” he taps his skull. “it’s brain damage.”
Margo’s mouth drops. “Yesssss! Oh my gracious!”
“Hey, remember, my friends?” I hold both hands up, middle fingers displayed proudly.
“There ya go, dude! You’re number one!” Crank throws his hand in the air waiting for me to hit it. I toss my bag over my shoulder, walking right past him. Leaving them behind, laughing.
I take the steps two at a time, ready to get in and settled. This thing is fantastic, and I’m grateful for all of it. But there’s only one thing I want right now. I walk straight to the back, dropping my bag and pulling out my cell.
Rush: Hello, Spen.
Spencer: Well, hello, handsome.
Spencer: I don’t think I’ve ever had a nickname.
Spencer: I like it.
Rush: I like you,
Rush: Do you want me?
Rush: Please say yes or no.
Spencer: Can you get any more perfect?
Rush: Yes, ma’am.
Rush: I sure as hell can.
Spencer: I think this is something that needs to be experienced.
