Crusher blinks, then blinks again before he begins, “Right, that is a lot, so your mom is dead, and you didn’t tell me?”

“You weren't talking to me, and I didn’t know how,” I admit.

He nods, then threatens, “I’m telling Alexiana,” And I groan because fuck that is one way to punish me, before he continues, “El was never right for you, you had this need to protect her because you didn’t protect your mom. You fucked her so you felt responsible for her but brother, you don’t love her. You can’t sit there and tell me you didn’t regret it as soon as you offered her your cut. The fact that she won’t fuck off and you won’t tell the prospects to let her through the gate is proof of that,” he sits forward, “What Dad did was fucked up, and what I did? I fucked up majorly, but you are not me. You’ve seen what happens when you hurt the one you are falling in love with. Don’t let what happened with your mom and our dad, or with me and Alex stop you from being happy,” he gives me a soft smile, “You’ve claimed Blair, you don’t want to admit it, but you did, you’ve claimed her.”

I look down because I am fully aware that I have, and I rub my hand over my mouth, her taste still there.

“After the run, you’re going to a ride for a few days,” Crusher states and I look at him like he’s fucking lost it.

“I can’t,” I state, but he shakes his head and replies, “You can and you will. I’ll speak to Cage, but I won’t explain everything. You need a time out from the club, from El, from Blair. You need to leave, get your head on straight, and when you come back, you’ll claim the girl you know is the right one to claim. Whether it’s because you want to protect Elenor, fine, whatever, I’ll support you, or if it’s Blair because you know she is the one, you’ll claim one. But first, you need to get your head together but brother, be prepared for Blair to believe El is your girl, she knows you’ve claimed her so if you do choose her, when you get back you have some explaining to do. I’ll be by your side like you are always by mine.”

I swallow hard, his words sinking in, and I nod in agreement, a ride is probably a good idea, but the thought of leaving Blair slowly sinks in. I already know who I’m going to choose, I just have to come to terms with it.

Chapter 12

Blair – A Week Later

“Okay, Mr. Bailey, here are your antibiotics,” I say to the sixty-year-old man sitting before me who looks like he’s in his goddamn thirties despite the beer belly. A wave of complete shame rolls across his face. I continue, “In this bag is a seven-day course of Doxycycline. They’re tablets—take one at the same time every day.” He nods without meeting my gaze. I pick up a little medicine cup and hand it to him. “If you can take this for me, please—it’s Azithromycin. You only need one dose of this.” He takes the cup, quickly swallows the tablet, and sets the empty cup aside after taking a big gulp of water I pass to him. I hand over the bag. His movements are quiet and mechanical, and I take a breath, hating that I have to do this, but I explain, “You must avoid all sexual activity—vaginal, oral, and anal—for at least seven days after starting those tablets. Even if you feel fine, please refrain until all tablets are gone. In around three months, if you could come back via appointment, we’ll get you retested as a precaution.”

He chokes out a faint, “Okay,” as he slowly stands, the shame now palpable, but when I add, “You also are required to contact all your sexual partners so they can get tested because of the complications the sexually transmitted disease can cause,” he pales visibly, the weight of my words settling over him.

“Shit, my wife is going to divorce me,” he chokes with horror, pain and shame, and the words hang in the air, stalling me as he brushes past. My eyes widen, and shock pulses through me.

Did he just say?

I mean, he cheated on his?

Okay…

Shaking my head, I grab the empty cups and throw them in the trash. I grab the sterile wipes, try to steady my racing thoughts, and start wiping down the chair and table, the monotony giving me something to focus on.

“Well, I did say he looks like he’s in his thirties and not his sixties,” I mutter to myself, still scrubbing down the room. My mind drifts to the patient's shame, wondering why he would even cheat, but suddenly, I pause, frowning at the sudden outburst, “This is all your fault!” from the hallway, noticing the anger sharp in the man’s voice that sounds like my patient.

“I-I, what are you talking about?” a woman screeches from outside, and I flinch at the intensity of her voice, and decide to finish cleaning down the room instead of confronting that situation, grateful for something to keep my hands busy while I brace myself for the next patient—hopefully not another complex situation, “Or an elderly man with an STD,” I mutter.

After finishing, I quickly throw the wipes and my gloves in the trash, then wash my hands. The small thumbprint bruise on my skin catches my attention and I swallow hard, unable to look away, thoughts swirling about how quickly everything can change.

A week has passed with no word from Blaze—almost as if he’s vanished.

After spending the whole night inside me—without a condom, I might add—I woke up to him gone. His shirt was firmly in place on me, Snow, who is normally in her crate, was asleep on the floor, not pestering me to let her out.

That was probably the best night of my life, but…

A screech echoes again, gaining my attention, and I frown as I leave the room, but horror hits me when I see Blaze’s girlfriend glaring at Trick.

And there is my butt, I screwed her boyfriend, I became the other woman, I’m no better than my goddamn sister.

I swallow hard and quickly walk past her, hoping she doesn’t see me and I move to the nurse’s desk, grab my board to sign off Mr. Bailey, but my hand freezes mid-action when she screeches, “I don’t have Chlamydia, I’m pregnant!”

She’s pregnant…

Wait she has what?

My eyes widen as I spin around in shock, everyone pausing to watch her little show while Trick crosses his arms over his chest.

She has… and Mr. Bailey had… Oh my god, wait… Oh no. Blaze didn’t use a condom with me.

My heart races and breathing grows difficult, and I-I think I’m about to vomit!
