His hands cupped my face, thumbs brushing the apples of my cheeks.

“I missed you.”

“I missed you more.”

I pressed a light kiss against his lips, then forced myself to pull away. As much as I wanted nothing more than to undress him right then and there and service him, he was clearly worn out. So, I settled for servicing him in other ways.

I knelt down, picking up his bag and carrying it over to his desk, where it belonged. He quietly followed close behind, taking the desk chair and looking over all of my notes and the restaurants I still had pulled up on his computer. As he scrolled through the listings, he hummed.

“Any luck on the job hunt?”

I winced.

His tone was completely nonjudgmental. Yet all I could imagine was him being disgusted by my lack of income and, possibly, my lack of motivation. If only there were a way I could let him in my brain so he could see just how desperately I wanted him to love me for all eternity.

Still, I tried my best to keep my tone even as I grasped his shoulders. Immediately, he sank back into his chair and into me, and my fingers went to work massaging the muscles beneath them. He moaned, coaxing my wanting cock to life.

“I have some leads. This move to all online applications is really kicking my ass. I miss the days when I could walk into a place and just talk my way into a job.”

He chuckled, tilting his head back to peer up at me.

“I bet. You probably had your pick of the litter in those days.” Damn right I did. But I refrained from saying so as he went back to checking out the restaurant on the screen. “Is this one of the places you’re applying to?”

“Yes, but also no. I am going to apply, but I was also checking it out for a prospective date location.” He peered up at me again as I continued speaking. “As much as I love our bed dates, I gotta take you out to keep you interested, right? Just sucks that everything is out of my price range.”

He shook his head, grabbing one of my hands and pulling it to his lips.

“You are perfectly interesting as you are, but…” and my heart jumped into my throat. Thankfully, as he made a noisy kissing sound against my palm, my heart settled back into the cavern of my chest. “You’re right. We should go out, and don’t worry. I’ve got the tab until you get back on your feet.”

Damn it. I loved him.

I loved him so, so much.

Just as I was about to give in to my lustful temptations, force him down over his desk, and pound into him, his brows suddenly knit together. Clearing his throat, he dampened the mood of the entire conversation. He turned his face to rest his cheek in my palm, nuzzling it like a child seeking comfort.

His voice was cold and even as he said:

“I have a patient… well, former patient, I guess, that wants to meet up for a bit. It’s super casual, and I don’t think it will take too long. Do you mind if we go chat with them first, then head out for dinner?”

I wanted to just outright cackle. It was such an innocuous request, but he made it seem like he was asking me to commit a felony. Honestly, he probably could’ve asked me to commit a felony, and I’d have at least considered it.

Still, I tried to keep things serious as I shook my head.

“I don’t mind at all. Let’s do it.”

His crimson eyes sparkled, relief washing over his face and coursing through him as he finally melted entirely against me.

He sighed, beaming.

“Thank goodness. How did I find a man like you?”

“No. The question should be, how did I find a man like you?”

And we continued on like that for a while. When was the last time I had enjoyed such a silly back-and-forth with someone like this? When had I enjoyed any amount of time with someone else that didn’t involve us being naked to some extent? I couldn’t recall. But the past didn’t matter.

All that mattered was our future, and that future included a quick wash together, then rushing out the door. It was a future of pure happiness. I was sure of it.

Little did I know what awaited me.
