“Bathroom through the closet. Everything you need should be in there. If you need anything, just let me know.”

“Okay. Thanks.” He turned to walk away, and my eyes went straight to his ass. I never knew a man could have an attractive ass. It was firm and muscular and looked damn good in those briefs.

Forcing my thoughts out of the gutter, I stopped him. “Off— I mean, Chance, you not mad about the money I spent?” I waved my hand to the many bags that he had placed on the floor.

I almost slipped up and called him Officer Legend. That was what I was used to calling him because obviously I couldn’t call him Chance. Even though he refused to tell me his first name for the first couple of years.

“Naw, I gave you my card for a reason.”

“Mmhmm. Okay, sooo… are you going to ask for your card back?”

He bit his bottom lip and studied me. I responded by tilting my head, as if to ask, what nigga? I was doing my best not to look at his dick, but the bulge in his briefs was visibly growing. Still, I stayed composed, maintaining steady eye contact.

“Naw, you keep it. Now go get ready. We got reservations at 8.”

This man had so much swagger that I couldn’t do anything but blush. He bent down to kiss my cheek before he left me a melted mess.

I could really use a shower, after all that tension.

I walked around the room, checking for cameras. What can I say? My privacy meant everything to me after it had been snatched away for so many years. After I confirmed there were no cameras, I decided to check out the linen closet. There were all kinds of scented goodies in there, including body washes, shampoo, candles, and plush towels and washcloths.

I wondered who all this was for or what girl he went out of his way for, but I didn’t like it. Now that the thought had crossed my mind, I wondered why he sent me in here instead of his room. Was he hiding something, or was he giving me space, respectfully?

I chose the kiwi-strawberry-scented body wash. I turned the shower on and set the temperature to hell. Within minutes, the bathroom was full of steam.

I washed up and got lost in my thoughts when I heard Chance’s voice. “Trouble, you okay in there?”

I panicked and looked around. I didn’t see him anywhere in the fog.

“Yeah?” I looked in the corners of the shower when I heard him again, and that’s when I noticed a speaker in the light.

“I know you haven’t been watching me?” I asked as I covered myself.

“Naw. I ain’t know fucking creep. Your ass been in there for a minute, and I wanted to make sure you ain’t fall and bust your ass, but come on, we gotta go.”

“This isn’t strange at all, but okay, here I come.” After lotioning, I let my locs down and let the shower steam moisturize my hair as it loosened from the bun I’d been rocking.

I was undecided about what I wanted to wear. I bought some fire outfits while I was in the city, and I chose comfort over doing too much. With the loose-fit jeans and a draped orange blouse that showed off my ample cleavage, I grabbed a pair of Adiorable Ballet Flats, all from Dior. This was the first time in my life that I’d worn an outfit that cost close to ten thousand dollars, but somehow it felt right. I knew I was meant to be spoiled and pampered; I just didn’t think it would ever happen. I sprayed some perfume I grabbed from Gucci all over and in my hair. Once I approved of my fit, I moisturized my face, grabbed my chocolate-colored lip liner, and applied some lip gloss. That was the best I could do since I didn’t think to grab any makeup or lashes while I was out. I grabbed a few pieces from the David Yurman jewelry collection I just purchased and put on two bracelets and a rose gold necklace.

I looked expensive but naturally beautiful at the same time.

When I finally made my way out of the spare room, I headed to the living room. I didn’t see Chance, but I heard him jogging lightly down the stairs. When I turned my attention to him, he looked so fucking good. He had silver-plated grill caps on two of his bottom teeth.

“You look good, Trouble. You got that shit on. All Dior, I see.”

“Thanks to you,” I said with a wink. I didn’t bother correcting him again. I was actually getting used to his little nickname for me, and honestly, it suited him because I planned to give him some trouble.

He was still staring at me until I broke his concentration.

“Since Code Red is in the city, you can follow me so I can drop off my sister’s car, and then we can go to Code Red so you can continue making up for lying and ghosting me.”

“Whatever you say, Justice.” He smirked at me.

He turned off a few lights, then approached me. He placed his hand on the small of my back as he walked me out to my sister's car. He rode my ass the entire ride. I wasn’t sure if I was driving too slow or if he just drove fast as fuck. When we were five minutes out, I called my sister to let her know I was pulling up.
