“I mean, yeah. I don’t know if it makes sense for us to tell them. We don’t even know how long we’re going to be doing this or how long we’re going to pretend to be fake engaged, or …” I trail off.
I feel nervous because while I love spending time with him and being with him, I don’t want to get into a pattern where I become used to having him around. I don’t want to get hurt when he no longer wants to be with me.
“I’m down for whatever you’re down for,” he says softly. “You want to tell them? We can tell them. If you don’t, we don’t have to.”
“I’m surprised.” I look at him. “You’re such a private person. I never would’ve thought you’d want the others to know.”
“I’m okay with whatever you’re okay with. So, we’re going back to my place?” he asks, an eager expression on his face.
“Let’s do it, big boy.”
“Ooh, I like it when you call me big boy.”
“I gather that’s preferable to small boy.”
“Well, small boy would be a lie.”
“You are too much.”
“That’s not what you were saying last night, darling.”
“Why are all men the same?” I giggle.
“I don’t know if we’re all the same. I’d like to think I’m a little bit unique.”
He starts humming a song under his breath, and I lean back into the seat and close my eyes as he drives. I can picture his face. He’s so handsome, far too handsome for his own good, but I’m not going to tell him that. And his body. I shiver, thinking about his muscles and the way he filled me up last night. He’s all man, and he knows how to give pleasure.
“We’re here,” he says softly as the car comes to a stop.
“Oh my gosh, did I fall asleep?”
“I think maybe you were fantasizing about me.” He gives me a wicked grin as he leans over and unbuckles my seat belt. His breath is warm on my lips. “You said my name under your breath.”
“I did not.” My eyes widen, and I feel myself blushing.
“Yeah, you did.” He presses his lips against mine. “But I don’t mind. I kind of like being the man you fantasize about.”
He pulls back and jumps out of the car, and I watch as he walks around to my side and opens the door. He grabs my hand and pulls me out.
“I want to be the man you do more than fantasize about right now though.”
“Oh, yeah?”
“Oh, yeah.” He presses his lips against my neck. “I want to be the man who’s inside you. I want to be the man who makes you forget your own name.”
“Then let’s make it happen,” I say softly.
We run toward his apartment, and I can’t help giggling as he fumbles for his keys.
“What are you doing to me, Rosie? You’re driving me crazy.”
“I guess we’re doing it to each other because you’re driving me crazy too.”

“Morning, sweetheart.” Brett carries a plate of pancakes into the bedroom and sets it on the duvet in front of me.
“Oh my gosh, you did not have to do this. This is so sweet of you.”
