Dreams Of Fate

Rounding the corner, I slip into the guest bathroom. The only downside of onesies is that they pool around my ankles when I use the toilet. I cross my arms over my braless breasts and contemplate my actions.

What must I have looked like? Maybe I should have dressed as Aria did. No. I’m determined to be myself. Sometimes, I’m a bit goofy. When I get nervous, I chatter, and not everything I say makes sense. I say what is on my mind, and don’t always have a filter. There's no denying my soul bond is hot. Like smoking hot.

Standing up, I yank up my clothes and walk to the sink. Luckily, I keep extra toothbrushes in here. I open one, load the bristles with paste, and brush quickly. Just in case Archer wants to kiss me. Man, I hope he wants to kiss me. I want to climb on his lap and never leave. Hustling toward the kitchen, I comb my fingers through my hair.

“I thought I was seeing things,” Mateo mutters, holding a pair of tongs in the air. “I saw a red, saggy ass running into the bathroom. I thought, why would Savy wear a hideous onesie to bed when her hot soul bond slept beside her?”

“Mateo,” I hiss, dropping my hands.

“Now that I see you up close, it does have some appeal.” He motions toward my chest. “Your boobs are hanging out. He probably liked that.”

I look down. “Shit.” I missed several buttons, and the fabric is wide open. “I had to take it off to go pee.”

“You should have left it off.” He turns a piece of bacon.

“Don’t be mean,” I pout.

“You’re right. You do look a little adorable in it, and not many people could. I’m sure Archer likes adorable things.” He winks and flips the bacon.

“Why did you come over so early?” I snag a piece of yummy meat.

“Early? You’re usually up hours before now. I held my hand under your nose three times to make sure you were still alive,” he snorts, loading the food on a plate and handing it to me.

“I'm shocked. I never slept so well.” I grin and slather butter on the toast.

“It’s him.” He points toward my bedroom.

“Probably.”

Archer is the only new element in the house. I feel energized and ready for the day. I'll thank the universe every night for sending me my bond.

“How’s Aria?” he asks.

I cringe. “Not great.”

He tilts his head. “What’s going on?”

“How often do you talk to Evander and Clara?”

“Random,” he says, narrowing his eyes. “Not often. It’s probably been…a couple months since we had a conversation.”

“Who are Evander and Clara?”

Twirling to face Archer, I swallow my food and lick my lips. He looks just as good in his tight black T-shirt and pants as he does in shorts. His hair is wet and messy.

I’m having regrets.

I should have kicked Mateo out and spent my morning in the shower with my bond.

Chapter Eight

Archer

Savy is staring at me. I clench my fists, resisting the urge to peel her clothes off and explore the dirty thoughts floating in her eyes. The picture of her at the end of the bed will be forever in my mind. I don’t want to move too fast. I have secrets, and she deserves to know all of me before she commits her life to me.

“Savy,” Mateo says, poking her back.

“Right.” She clears her throat. “They are Mateo’s friends. Aria has been with them for years. She lives by herself, but they’re close.”
