“I actually slept in this morning.” I narrow my eyes. “Or yesterday morning.”

“Well, take the wins where you can,” she snorts.

“What are you doing?” I hear movement through the phone.

“I packed my shit. I’m hauling it to the car. I can’t hear one more minute of the orgasms going on, especially since I haven’t seen any action for months. At least you have the prospect of some sexy time.” She pauses, but I press my lips together. “Oh…do tell.”

“You think I will?” I bite my lip.

“Hell, yeah. Remember, I know you.”

“I’ll just say…he hits all the right buttons.” I laugh as she groans.

“It’s about time. Maybe I should get myself one of those soul bonds.”

“You won’t be disappointed,” I sigh.

“Jealous,” she snaps. “I’m in my car now. I can’t wait to see your man.”

My stomach cramps. “Speaking of jealousy,” I clear my throat. “Don’t flirt with him. I don’t know what I'll do.”

“I’ve always wanted to try pink hair,” she giggles.

“Let’s hope that would be all I would do,” I grumble.

“Savy, I would never do anything inappropriate,” she says, and I snort. “To him. Never to him.”

“I know, but I’m feeling particularly protective of him.”

“As you should be.”

I shake my head. “Did you talk to Granny?”

“I did. I had her take a picture of Betty and Travis. I made it my home screen on my phone.” She chuckles. “Honestly, seeing them now, I’m not afraid. When I was young, they seemed like huge, bad, parental figures. I stared at the picture for thirty minutes and felt nothing but humor. Granny still had them tied up. She said you made them fall asleep.”

“I did. It had been so long since I used it, I was surprised it came back to me so easily.” I ease off the counter and get some water. “You know I tried it on Granny a few times. I put her to sleep and ate all the snacks in the house.”

“Do you really think she didn’t know?”

“What?” I return to my seat and take a drink.

“She totally knew,” she laughs.

“She told you?”

“Of course. The first time it actually worked. After that, she spelled herself to resist it. When you did it again, she was prepared,” she snorts.

“She acted like she was asleep,” I gasp.

“I know. She wanted to see what you would do.”

“I’ve been lied to. First Mateo, now Granny,” I pout.

“Poor Savy.”

We both laugh.

I clear my throat. “I miss you.”
