“Of course not.” She drops her arms and squeezes Gwen’s hand. “I’m safe. Archer is with me, and Aria will be here. We won’t let this guy hurt us.”
“I had to try,” Gwen sighs and steps back. “Forgive an old woman for trying to protect you. I'll help however I can.”
“I appreciate it, but don’t worry,” Savy says.
Gwen looks at me. “Do you feel the same?”
“Yes,” I say firmly, and she nods.
“Alright, I’ll keep Betty and Travis contained. I better get back.” She walks toward the door. “What’s the plan today?”
Savy walks with her. “No plan yet. The day just started.”
“Let me know.” She kisses Savy's cheek and waves at me.
My bond presses her palm against the door as she closes it, and stays still for a moment. I wait until she turns, and I move around the counter.
“You didn’t tell her.” I tilt my head.
“I didn’t want to worry her even more. She knows Aria is on her way, but doesn’t know she'll be here earlier. If she knew we planned to find Griffon, she would want to be there.” She leans against the door. “Do you think it would change Adeline’s premonition if we found him before Aria got here?”
“It’s possible. We can make choices that could change it,” I say.
“But nothing is guaranteed,” she hums, and I nod. “What do you think about doing it now? Going to your place and doing a location spell.”
“The sooner we get answers, the better.”
“That’s what I think.”
“The challenge will be finding him. We don’t know what he looks like, but with our combined spells, they'll guide us.”
“I remember the traces of evil on Betty and Travis. It'll help.” She moves away from the door.
“I’ll call Rome and Mara. We need them there.” I pull out my phone.
“Yes, just in case.”
I'm not great at location spells, and Rome likes to give me hell about it. When it’s important, my magic knows.
And I’ve never done magic with my soul bond.
I should be anxious about what we'll uncover, yet all I feel is eagerness.
Savy walks beside me as we decide where to do the spell. It would be safer to do it in the cabin, but being in nature will help our magic. Many witches and warlocks get fuel from the earth, and others get it from other sources. Rome needs people's energy to aid his spells. Seeing Savy’s house and the vegetation around it, I knew she took energy from it.
We stop on the side of the house, and I hear a vehicle. I’m grateful they were willing to drop everything to be here. Rome will always be my first call when I need help. We wait as they park and step out of the car.
“Doing it outside?” Rome asks.
“It’s best for us,” I reply.
“Thanks for coming,” Savy says, and we resume walking as they join us. “We don’t know what we will find out. Just in case we lead him directly to us, it’s nice to have you here.”
“We’ll do anything to help.” Mara smiles.
There's a group of tall trees in the backyard, and we stop underneath them.
“We can protect the area while you do it,” Rome says, looking around. “In case a human wanders this way.”
