“No.” I tilt my head. “When was the last time you talked to her?” Granny trusted them and hasn’t expressed any doubt about their intentions.

“About a month,” she says, and looks at her brother.

“She checks in regularly, but not lately,” Evander adds.

“Is something wrong with her?” Clara moves closer, and Archer stiffens.

“No.” I glance over my shoulder as a car pulls into the driveway.

Two doors slam, and then I see Aria running toward us. She’s wearing her pajamas. Her cute shorts and tank set are covered with an oversized cardigan. I shake my head as I notice her wet hair and fuzzy slippers. Mateo is dressed and strolling behind her.

“How did you find us?” Aria demands, stopping beside me.

“Aria, you could have told us you wanted to come,” Clara says, and smiles, stepping closer. She stops when Aria takes a step back. “What’s wrong?”

“She thinks we're the bad guys,” Evander says, narrowing his eyes.

“Are you?” Mateo drawls, and Evander turns his glare toward him.

“What? Why?” Clara gasps.

“I overheard you.” Aria crosses her arms. “You were talking about Savy’s powers, and how they could be used. For a month, you’ve been following me, asking me about every minute of my day, and being secretive.”

“Shit,” Evander mumbles.

“I’m shocked,” Clara whispers, pressing her fingers against her mouth. “I thought you trusted us.”

“I did. I just—” Aria clears her throat.

“You can’t blame her,” Evander says, nudging Clara’s shoulder. “Your nose was practically pressed up against the coffee shop window when she caught you.”

“Well, I was worried,” Clara sputters.

“Why?” Aria drops her arms and steps forward.

“Explain,” Clara sighs, motioning for Evander to speak.

“A month ago,” Evander starts, “I had a dream. It was weird because I don’t usually have them, and if I do, I don’t remember them. Aria and Savy were in it.” He shrugs. “It felt real. Someone was standing in front of you, but I couldn’t see his face. He was hurting Savy. I could see the fear and pain in her expression.” He looks at me, and Archer pulls me closer. “You were in shock for some reason and not using your magic. Aria stepped in front of you and was about to hurt him.” He frowns.

“And?” Aria asks, and he focuses on her.

“I woke up.” He shakes his head. “I didn’t know what to think.”

“What about the man?” Archer asks.

“Like I said, I couldn’t see his face,” he replies.

“What color of hair did he have? What was he wearing?” I ask.

“Blond hair. Wearing a suit.”

I look at Archer. “Griffon.”

“Who is Griffon?” Clara asks.

“The man who wants Savy,” Archer answers.

“So you didn’t decide to be the bad guys?” Mateo asks, walking around Aria.
