“I’ll give you that,” he sighs.

“Why are you here?” Archer asks.

Evander looks at him. “I had a dream.”

“You don’t have premonitions,” I say.

“No, but for some reason, I did. I wasn’t sure if it was just a regular dream or not.” He glances at his sister, and she nods. “You’re in trouble.”

“You’re a little late with the information,” I say dryly.

“I love her.” Clara claps. “She’s feisty. You grew up well.”

“Hold your enthusiasm,” Evander says.

“Alright,” she pouts.

“This is not what I was expecting,” Archer mumbles.

“We get that a lot,” Evander drawls.

“Do you have any bad intentions toward Savy or Aria?” Archer asks bluntly.

“Why would we?” Clara puts her hands on her hips. “We practically raised Aria. We’ve been extra cautious lately because we sensed something. Savy is her family.” She looks at me. “We didn’t spend tons of time with you, but we still love you.”

“Why weren’t you honest with Aria?” I ask.

“Probably should have been,” Evander admits. “She’s like our kid, so we wanted to protect her.”

“So, you aren’t trying to control her?”

“Who could?” Clara snorts.

“Aria is a tad stubborn.” Evander adjusts his hat. “As you know, it runs in the family. We didn’t have any evidence that something was going on. Until the dream.”

“Tell us about it,” Archer demands.

“Can we wait for Aria?” Clara asks, looking around. “She should be here soon, right?”

“Yes.”

I was prepared for a fight. Some of the tension releases from my body. I don’t sense any darkness like the one that was covering Betty and Travis. My stomach pinches at the thought of them. I’ll have to deal with my emotions over their death and tell Aria and Granny.

“How old are you?” Evander asks, looking at Archer.

“Why?” he asks.

“You have years behind your power,” he replies.

“Yeah.” Archer lifts his chin.

“Smart,” Evander smirks. “We wouldn’t do anything to hurt Savy.”

“Forgive me for not believing that yet,” Archer says.

“I can respect that.” Evander looks behind us. “Aria is close.”

“Is Gwen coming?” Clara asks.
