Had two babies outside our marriage, another one coming, and somehow still walked around believing I was eventually going to calm down and let his ass come home.
Nigga.
Not on your fucking life.
I was disgusted by him.
I had even gone and gotten a full STD screening.
That shit alone pissed me off.
I had been married.
I thought marriage meant I didn’t have to sit in a doctor’s office asking somebody to test me for every fucking thing under the sun because my husband cared enough about me not to put my health at risk.
Luckily, everything came back clean.
Thank God.
Because if that nasty motherfucker would’ve given me something on top of everything else, I might’ve actually ended up on the fucking news.
“Come on.” I zipped my bag. “Before these kids tear my house apart.”
“Where y’all going anyway?”
“Out of town.”
Nesha stared at me.
I stared back.
She rolled her eyes.
“Bitch, where?”
“None of your business.”
“A.K.A wherever Levin taking your nasty ass.”
I laughed and walked out the room.
“Fuck you.”
“I hope he does!”
She came behind me laughing.
By the time we got downstairs, Zion and Amari were sitting at the table eating sandwiches. Nesha’s son, Chance and Michael had toys spread all over my living-room floor, and Serenity was starting to fuss from her seat.
Nesha scooped her up.
“Aww, come here, pretty girl.”
I checked the time.
Xay should’ve been here any minute.
He was staying with the kids for the weekend.
