She tugged gently at his hair. “No, I mean, what do you need from me?”

He stopped and looked up at her. “I don’t understand.”

“Do you want me to suck you off? Do you want to be inside me? What do you need from me right now?” She looked almost concerned, like she was doing something wrong.

“Jodie, you don’t have to do anything right now except enjoy what I’m doing to you.”

“But I…”

He touched his fingertips to her lips. “But nothing, Jodie. You don’t have to do. You can just be.”

And to show her what he meant, Mac kissed his way down her body. By the time he reached the inside of her thigh, Jodie was breathing hard, watching him. He kissed the soft skin there, then the other side. Then he put his mouth on her, gliding his tongue between her folds.

Jodie’s head dropped back against the pillow and she closed her eyes.

There.

He hooked one arm around her thigh and held her open while his tongue moved over her. Slowly at first, because slow made her crazy. He’d learned that, too.

She lifted her hips to squirm out from under him.

“I can pleasure you, too. We could sixty-nine.”

Mac pressed her hips back down as he smiled against her.

“Later. This is for you right now.”

“But—” Her protest broke apart when he sucked gently over her clit. Her fingers tightened in his hair. “Oh, yes. Right there.”

She breathed faster and shallower. She dug her heels into the mattress on either side of him.

“Mac.”

He slid two fingers inside her, found just the right spot and stroked. Jodie moaned and came hard, tightening around his fingers. Mac stayed right where he was until she pushed weakly at his shoulder.

“Okay.” Her voice was little more than a breath. Her eyes were shut and her body relaxed until it felt boneless.

He kissed the inside of her thigh and moved back up her body. Jodie looked thoroughly wrecked. He liked that look on her. A lot.

She opened one eye. “Your turn.”

“I’m not keeping score, baby.”

And just to prove his point, he took her in his arms and held her close. He brushed her nose with his.

“Thank you,” she said. “But I can still—”

“Shh. We have about fifteen minutes before we absolutely have to get up.” He stroked her hair. “Just…relax. You don’t need to do a thing.”

Mac closed his eyes and started to drift. When he opened them again, he swore no time had passed, but he found himself alone in bed. He sat up and looked at his phone. Twenty minutes had gone by in what felt like an instant.

Mac got up and pulled on a pair of sweatpants. He dropped his phone into one of the pockets. He found Jodie at the kitchen table in one of his old T-shirts, her coffee steaming beside her and her laptop open. She looked up.

“I was just about to come and get you. Let me pour you some coffee.”

Before she could get up, he bent down and kissed the back of her neck. “Stay put. I’ve got it. You look good in my shirt.”

“You have excellent taste in tees.”
