An overseas teaching hiatus should be fun. For Hazel Templeton, moving to Broomcorn Hollow is all about cultural immersion. Learning about her school, her students and the small Kansas town she’s landed that’s obsessed with Halloween, even when it’s not October yet.

What she doesn’t expect is to have a personal tour guide in the form of a local basketball hero who takes his job way too seriously.

Basketball player Zack Dawson loves Broomcorn Hollow, almost as much as he obsesses over Halloween decorations. He’s had a hand in putting most of them together across town, all in a bid to hide the fact that he’s the one without a date this Halloween and that’s the way it should stay. But when he realizes that Hazel’s conservative exterior has a few cracks in it, he’s keen to help her discover her haunted side…

Especially in a town that knows how to celebrate the spooky season better than anywhere else.
