My ex just showed up at my front door demanding to come inside.

He didn’t know I had a firefighter in my kitchen cooking me dinner.
Last week I kissed Captain Holloway on stage at my daughter’s school play.
After the play, he asked me to dinner, and tonight he was at my stove cooking pasta.
My daughter was coloring at the table, and for the first time in years my house felt full.
Suddenly, a fist banged on my door, and I looked through the window to see my ex.
I cracked the door and he shoved his foot inside, demanding to come in.
He pushed the door open, and a heavy hand braced above my head.
The captain stepped in behind me, pulled me close, and growled,

“If you have a problem, we can take this outside.”
